NOTES
The A.E.C. Regals which were intended to
be 695/700/708/714-716/718/720/721 were delivered in 1940, not
to G.C.T, but to the Ministry of Supply, who used them throughout
the war. Only "700/708/718/720/721" reappeared
in public service, although not in Glasgow; "703/718/721" were
re-registered GWO 299/60 EHY/GXX 68 after "demob."
705 was
converted to producer-gas operation in 1942; reverted to diesel
fuel operation 1944.
723 had chassis of London
Transport RT type, with fluid flywheel, air-cperated preselective
gearbox and low radiator and bonnet; it was the only "pre-war" chassis
of this type sold outside London. Like those of the contemporary
London RTs, the chassis number was in the 0661 series.
725/727/728/730/733/737-740/744/746/754/757/758/762/764/765/769/772/773
were converted to trailer-type producer gas operation in 1942;
reverted to diesel fuel operation 1944.
784-791 had
GCT (Bus Works) bodies to M.C.C.W. design.
808 was
converted to trailer-type producer gas operation in 1942; reverted
to diesel fuel operation 1944.806/808/809/811/813/Q14/820/821/824/825
were rebodied by East Lanes in 1952 and became BR 21-30.
827/828 had "unfrozen" chassis;
these were chassis halted in production by Government order ("frozen")
in 1941, but subsequently freed for completion and allocation
to operators selected by the Ministry of War Transport.
